The holiday season is upon us, and that means that good food and overflowing cups are in high demand. This baked ham recipe has been passed down through the generations and is a tried and tested favourite on Christmas Day. With exotic ingredients of pineapple, brandy and cloves, this ham will delight your friends and family all throughout the holidays.

Baked Glazed Ham

  • ¼ cup pineapple juice

  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons marmalade

  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon brandy

  • Whole cloves

  1. Put all ingredients, except the cloves, in a small saucepan over medium heat and stir till it boils.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Allow mixture to cool completely.
  4. In the meantime, remove the skin the ham. Score the ham and stud generously with whole cloves. Heat oven to about 150 degrees.
  5. Brush a generous portion of the cooled mixture over the top and front of the ham. Place ham on a wire rack over a roasting dish containing a couple of centimetres of water. Leave ham in the oven approx.. 45 minutes to 1 hour, removing every 15 minutes to re-baste with the remaining glaze. Turn the heat up or down during the cooking process to get your required degree of colour on the ham.
  6. Always store your ham in a cloth ham bag to maintain its freshness.
